SECRETARY OF STATE MAURO REMINDS VOTERS TO PARTICIPATE IN H.D. 33 Friday Marks the Deadline for Absentee Ballot Requests by Mail DES MOINES - Secretary of State Michael A. Mauro reminds eligible voters in House District 33 to head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 24. House District 33 is in the southern part of Linn County and includes a portion of the City of Cedar Rapids. A map detailing the district boundaries can be found here: www.legis.state.ia.us/Redist/hpdf/h-33.pdf. Polls will be open on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 a.m. and will close at 9 p.m. Polling locations for the election can be found on the Linn County Auditor’s website at www.linncounty.org/auditor or by calling 319-892-5300. The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is this Friday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. Absentee ballots requested by mail must either be returned by mail and postmarked no later than Monday, Nov. 23, or dropped off at the county auditor's office before 9 p.m. on election day. Voters wishing to cast an absentee ballot in-person may do so at the county auditor's office during normal business hours through Monday, Nov. 23, the day before election day. This Saturday, Nov. 21, the Linn County Auditor’s office will also be open until 5 p.m. for in-person absentee voting. Those who are not registered to vote, and who want to vote on election day, may do so at their designated polling location. Eligible voters will need to provide photo identification and proof of their current residency. An Iowa driver’s license or non-driver ID card with a photo and expiration date is one form of identification.
