SECRETARY OF STATE MAURO REMINDS IOWANS OF SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION FILINGS

DES MOINES – Secretary of State Michael A. Mauro reminds Iowans that the filing period for candidates for the upcoming school board elections begins Monday, July 6. Nomination papers, along with an affidavit of candidacy, must be filed with the school board secretary no later than Thursday, July 30.

Secretary Mauro noted that all school board members elected this year will serve four-year terms instead of terms of three years due to a change in Iowa law.

Nomination papers and affidavits of candidacy are available from the school board secretary, the local county auditor and on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.state.ia.us/elections/electioninfo/schoolelections.html. A candidate’s guide and additional information are also available on this website.
