SECRETARY OF STATE MAURO REMINDS VOTERS TO PARTICIPATE
IN H.D. 90 SPECIAL ELECTION ON TUESDAY

Friday Marks the Deadline for Absentee Ballot Requests by Mail

DES MOINES – Secretary of State Michael A. Mauro reminds voters in House District 90 to head to the polls on Tuesday, Sept. 1. House District 90 includes all of Van Buren County, and portions of Jefferson and Wapello counties.

“I strongly encourage Iowans in House District 90 to turn out for the special election on Tuesday and to encourage their friends and neighbors to head to the polls and cast their vote,” Secretary Mauro said.

Polls will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 a.m. and will close at 9 p.m.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is this Friday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. Voters may still request absentee ballots in-person at their county auditor’s office until close of business on Monday, Aug. 31, the day before election day.

Saturday, Aug. 29, county auditors’ offices in H.D. 90 will be open for in-person absentee voting. Voters may check with their county auditor for business hours on this day.

Those living in H.D. 90 who are not registered to vote, and who want to vote on election day, may do so at their designated polling location. Eligible voters will need to provide photo identification and proof of their current residency. An Iowa driver’s license or non-driver ID card with a photo and expiration date is one form of identification. Other acceptable forms are listed on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.state.ia.us/elections/voterinformation/voterregistration.html#2.

Voters may also check their registration status and find their polling location by clicking on the “Am I Registered to Vote in Iowa?” and “Find Your Precinct/Polling Place” links on the Secretary of State’s website: www.sos.state.ia.us.
