SECRETARY OF STATE MAURO ANNOUNCES UNOFFICIAL RESULTS DES MOINES – Secretary of State Michael A. Mauro today announced the unofficial election results and voter turnout estimates in the House District 90 special election. Democrat Curt Hanson received 3,932 total votes, finishing ahead of Republican Stephen Burgmeier, who received 3,825 total votes. Douglas William Philips (Nominated by petition) received 242 total votes and Dan Cesar of the Fourth of July Party received 40 total votes. “The turnout in House District 90 exceeded expectations for a special election,” Secretary Mauro said. “It shows voters were extremely engaged in this race and they truly cared about who they wanted to send to the Statehouse.” The county canvass will be tomorrow, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. Please note all published results and turnout are UNOFFICIAL until the completion of the state canvass on Sept. 14.
